Summ()n is partnering with Digital Skin

by on Oct.22, 2009, under 6 future congeries

Digital Skin is a newly established consultancy that helps “governments and corporations to improve innovation and organizational collaboration, by transforming traditional “real world” scenario simulations into 3D virtual environments for accelerated learning.” – see also their recently launched web-site with volumes of interesting and inspirational information.

It looks like a new name, but in reality these are the people whom we know for quite a while already: the core team of the Digital Skin comes from the UnfroZEN Minds consultancy with the same Toby Coop as the ‘guild leader’. We have collaborated with them in a number of projects related to virtual worlds and MMRPOGs (I also personally benefited from their swift escorts through multiple instances in the WoW, when I was lvl-ing my char with their guild at Sporeggar :) .

In this new reincarnated form Digital Skin will be doing the same as before, but better – “Our competive advantage comes from the way we have integrated our templates in leadership, organizational collaboration, learning and coaching with the advanced modelling capability for fully extensible virtual environments to create an award winning Rapid Scenario Deployment process.

Gratz, guys, and we are looking forward to the joint projects which I hope will start materializing very soon!

Role-playing Workshop for the IoT Council

by on Oct.22, 2009, under 5 recent projects

< Yay! Our proposal was accepted, and we will run an interactive game during the launch of the Council of the Internet of Things, to be held in Brussels in December!

“[P]articipants will be exploring possible futures of the Internet of Things. During the workshop the teams will construct their own versions of the future IoT by taking a few distinctive ‘roles’ and following a special ‘gameplay’ to facilitate creative role-playing. An open, yet structured competitive/collaborative process will help the participants to express – and reflect upon – their ideas about the future of the Internet of Things, learn from each other and together construct more meaningful and integral version of the new emerging reality.

Most importantly, through this playful thought experiments participants will identify what are those transformations of themselves that need to happen to let these possible futures emerge, and what the new skills and mindsets we need to develop and hone to prepare for such futures.

More information is on their site: Can Elves Live With Dwarves Without Trolls? Interactive Role-playing Workshop

As usual for the play-shops, we don’t post the rules before the event, to not spoil the experience, but we are happy with what we have in our sleeves for the participants. Looking forward for the workshop!

Council of the Internet of Things launches the website

by on Oct.07, 2009, under 6 future congeries

After few months on a temporary WordPress location, the Council of the Internet of Things finally launched their official website. The site not only provides the best coverage of a very complex and very volatile domain, but perhaps more importantly it introduces its key actors – entrepreneurs and researchers, artists and political activities, both practitioners and theoreticians of the Internet of Things.

I am very proud that the Council invited me to join their ranks, and contribute to the development of this exciting area. I expect that soon they will also announce the date and place of their inauguration party, so stay tuned!

Presentation at MindTrek’09

by on Oct.05, 2009, under 5 recent projects

Just came back from Tampere, Finland, where I spoke at the MindTrek’09 conference. The event was perfectly organized and went smoothly, at least from the participants’ point of view (I am sure it required a lot efforts and stress from the organizers, as always). Interesting presentations, demonstrations, and conversation, and all that with a beautiful backdrop of Finnish early autumn.

My story was received very well, and thanks to it I had a chance to talk to even more interesting people, which is always great. Time to go through the bizcards, notes, twitter feeds and Flickr streams of images. I placed my own pictures from the conference here, and also put few more images as the ‘Finnish context‘ (will add a few more pics to both sets, soon).

I will also put the slides to the SlideShare, have to just add more few comments (or, rather, extract them from the notes).
