Same ideas, new masks: Future paths

by on Aug.23, 2010, under 6 future congeries

The blog was hardly active lately, partly because of a traditionally sleepy summer which lead to a slowdown of the Summ()n’ projects, and also due to a long holiday trip we took around. A lot of things happened, both before and during this trip: meetings and events, observations and discoveries, but there was not much chances to properly write them down here. I hope this is a re-start, and that the blog will soon become as active as before, if not more.

It’s also a time for a proper reflection; Summ()n is afloat for about half year, and the experience we gained will have lead to new directions. Our ideas and methods had been praised by many, but bought by a few. Which means that a certain adjustments are due, in the way we deliver our services and – perhaps, most importantly – whom we deliver them too.

One of the common comment we are getting is that the Summ()n’s services have to bundled with other activities, such as innovation, communication or training programs, for them to create a more tangible offer. Summ()n is therefore exploring a number of possible partnerships, to develop a more viable offer.

From the other side, we have discovered that the methodology of Summ()n, and the ideas behind it – our ideas about experiential futures, playful exploration, multiple integral identities etc, etc – are a fruitful research field. The team is seeking collaboration with research institutions and universities, to explore this filed in more depth.

Lots of things to do then! Raise high the roof beam!

PS: The picture is from Venice where we stopped for a couple of days; a truly marvelous city, with a very interesting gameplay.
